Clark reported over Hanoi radio that he had seen damage to hospitals, dikes, schools, and civilian areas. His visit stirred intense controversy at home. Nothing ever came of Clark\u2019s claims, but he was lauded by antiwar activists for pointing out the damage done by the U.S. bombing attacks.
