The co-founder of Home Depot is pointing the finger at socialism for why Americans no longer have the drive to work.<\/p>\n

Bernie Marcus, who along with Arthur Blank made the home improvement big box retailer a North American empire, told the Financial Times , \u201cNobody gives a damn.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 93-year-old billionaire put the blame on many \u201cwoke people\u201d and industries \u2014 including President Joe Biden, who he calls \u201cthe worst president in the history of this country\u201d \u2014 the news media, Harvard graduates, MBAs, lawyers and accountants.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m worried about capitalism,\u201d Marcus told the outlet.<\/p>\n
\u201cCapitalism is the basis of Home Depot (and) millions of people have earned this success and had success,\u201d he explained. \u201cI\u2019m talking manufacturers, vendors and distributors and people that work for us (who have been) able to enrich themselves by the journey of Home Depot.\u201d<\/p>\n
Many in the country, however, don\u2019t share that same viewpoint, he declared.<\/p>\n
\u201cNobody works. \u2018Just give it to me. Send me money. I don\u2019t want to work \u2014 I\u2019m too lazy, I\u2019m too fat, I\u2019m too stupid,\u2019\u201d he said of the woke attitude many Americans have.<\/p>\n
Marcus added that attempts to \u201cwoke\u201d him, as he put it, would fail.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole idea that a business is set up for social purposes doesn\u2019t make sense to me,\u201d he told the Financial Times, though he acknowledged that Home Depot \u201cwas one of the first companies that was socially conscious,\u201d citing its efforts to help communities rebuild after natural disasters strike.<\/p>\n
Marcus is also unapologetic about his support for Republicans, including former President Donald Trump and Florida governor Ron DeSantis \u2013 even though his Trump backing incited calls on social media to boycott Home Depot.<\/p>\n
\u201cI give money to them because I hope they\u2019re going to do the right thing,\u201d Marcus said, calling Trump\u2019s policies \u201cspot on\u201d and saying he believes DeSantis will \u201cchallenge him\u201d for the GOP nomination in 2024.<\/p>\n
